Tomorrow I’m going to have the first Premiere of a film I made.
Well, it really isn’t a “film” it’s more of a video. And, it isn’t in a theater or anything like that. It’s at the home of a girlfriend of a friend of Dugie’s because she has a nice big screen TV. There won’t be a big audience, just 10 people, maybe 8. But I’m very happy about it. I know what I do in the field of video and I know it doesn’t reach a large audience but after all these years working in the television business I’m doing my own thing. I think that I have a style that is mine. The biggest compliment I could get is that someone could watch a video and realize it was produced, shot and edited by me without first knowing who did it. Tomorrow there will be 8-10 of my friends watching a show that was completely produced by me and that is more than enough for me. The video is one that I wrote about previously, it’s called “Dugie”. I shot it in 2 days and used some footage I had shot before of the ocean and it took me 2 days to edit it.

Then, on Saturday I’m going to shoot another video. This time the subject is a woman who created the inlay for the neck of Tom Rush’s guitar, “The Naked Lady”. Tom talked about it in a recent episode of ROCKPORT SUNDAYS and mentioned her name. Through the magic of Google I found her in Connecticut and she has agreed to tell the story of how she created this now famous guitar neck. I’m going to surprise Tom with it, unless of course he reads this blog. I’ll post a “Production Notebook” about the recording and editing of the piece and post the video here when it’s done. I’m very much looking forward to this..
On July 30th Ruthie and I are going to see Tom Rush in concert at the beautiful Shalin Liu theater in Rockport, MA, and then, in early August I’ll be shooting two interviews for a film about Bruce Langhorne, the man with the Tamborine that Bob Dylan wrote the song about. And later in the month shooting two episodes of ROCKPORT SUNDAYS with Tom Rush and his guests Kate Taylor and then Lori McKenna.
It may sound as though I’m busy but believe me I spend a lot of time hanging around the house.
